Kids Brain Breaks is made for classrooms, so we keep data collection small. This page explains exactly what we collect, why, who helps us run the site, and the choices you have.
The microphone never records
Sound games measure how loud the room is, inside your browser. Audio is never saved or sent anywhere.
No student data
Children play on the shared class screen. They never make accounts or type in names, and the games don't ask for any personal details.
Teacher accounts are minimal
An account is only an email address and a password, used to sign in and unlock the full pack.
We never see your full card number
Dodo Payments runs checkout. We receive only a record of the purchase, not your full card number or security code.
1. Who we are
Kids Brain Breaks (“we”, “us”) runs kidsbrainbreaks.com, a collection of short, interactive brain-break activities for teachers to run on a classroom screen. Some activities are free to everyone; a one-time purchase unlocks the full pack, including every activity we add later.
The site is meant for teachers, parents and other adults leading activities for children. Accounts and purchases are for adults only.
2. What we collect
If you just play the free games
We don’t ask for any personal information. Your browser remembers your settings (game length, difficulty, microphone on or off, microphone sensitivity) and your class’s best scores. These stay on your device and are not sent to us. See cookies and browser storage.
The microphone
Some activities can react to sound, but only if you turn the microphone on. Your browser asks your permission first, and you can withdraw it at any time in your browser settings. The sound is analysed live, inside your browser, to work out how loud the room is. No audio is recorded, stored, or sent to us or to anyone else. Every activity also works without a microphone.
If you create an account
- Email address and password. Used to sign you in. Passwords are stored by our login provider, Supabase, as a secure one-way hash. We can’t see your password.
- Account details. An account ID, when the account was created, and when you last signed in.
- A sign-in token, saved in your browser so you stay signed in on that device.
If you buy the full pack
Payment is handled by Dodo Payments on its own checkout page. Dodo asks for your name, email, billing address and card details. When a payment succeeds, Dodo sends us a record of the transaction, which we store with your account. That record includes:
- the payment reference, status, amount, currency, tax, and any discount code used
- your name and email address as entered at checkout
- your billing address
- the card brand, card type, the card’s last four digits, the cardholder name, and the country that issued the card
We never receive your full card number or security code.
Usage statistics
We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used: which pages and activities are opened, roughly where visitors are (country or city, worked out from the IP address), what device and browser they use, and how they found the site. Google Analytics uses cookies to do this.
Support chat and email
If you message us through the chat button (run by Crisp) or email support@kidsbrainbreaks.com, we receive what you send, your email address if you give it, and basic technical details such as your browser and approximate location.
Technical logs
Like any website, the services that host us (Cloudflare and Supabase) process your IP address and browser details to deliver pages, keep the site secure and fix problems. These logs are kept for a short time.
3. How we use it
- To run the activities and remember your settings on your device.
- To create your account, sign you in, and reset your password when you ask.
- To confirm your purchase, unlock the full pack, make sure nobody is charged twice, and handle refunds.
- To answer support messages.
- To understand which activities are used, so we can improve them and build new ones.
- To keep the site secure and prevent abuse or fraud.
- To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.
We don’t sell personal information. We don’t show ads, we don’t use advertising networks, and we don’t build profiles of students.
4. Services we use
These companies process data for us. Each one only gets what it needs to do its job.
| Service | What it does for us | Data it handles |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare | Hosts the website, protects it from attacks, and forwards emails sent to our support address | IP address, browser details, pages requested, emails you send us |
| Supabase | Accounts, sign-in and our database | Email address, hashed password, account details, purchase records, request logs |
| Dodo Payments | Checkout and payment processing. Dodo is the merchant of record: it sells the full pack on our behalf and handles sales tax, receipts and refunds | Name, email, billing address, payment card details |
| Google Analytics | Usage statistics | Cookies, device and browser details, approximate location, pages viewed |
| Crisp | Support chat | Chat messages, email address if you provide it, device and browser details |
| Google Fonts | Loads the site’s fonts | IP address and browser details |
Dodo Payments collects payment information directly and handles it under its own privacy policy and the card industry’s security standard (PCI DSS).
5. Cookies and browser storage
We use your browser’s local storage to make the site work. None of it is used for advertising.
| Name | Set by | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
bb.opt.*, bb.record.* | Kids Brain Breaks | Game length and difficulty you chose, and your class’s best score for each activity |
mic.enabled, mic.thresh | Kids Brain Breaks | Whether the microphone is on, and its sensitivity. No audio is stored |
kbb-auth, kbb-auth-code-verifier | Kids Brain Breaks (via Supabase) | Keeps you signed in on this device, and completes password-reset links |
kbb.paid, kbb.checkout | Kids Brain Breaks | Remembers that this device’s account has the full pack, and recognises your return from checkout |
_ga, _ga_* (cookies) | Google Analytics | Tells visits apart for usage statistics. Lasts up to 2 years |
crisp-client/* (cookies) | Crisp | Keeps your support conversation connected between visits |
You can clear or block cookies and site data in your browser settings. If you do, the site still works, but it will forget your settings and sign you out. You can also opt out of Google Analytics on every site with Google’s opt-out browser add-on.
6. Children and schools
Kids Brain Breaks is designed for activities led by an adult on a shared screen. Children don’t create accounts, and the activities don’t ask for names, photos, voice recordings or any other personal information. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Usage statistics describe the device showing the site, and are used only to understand and improve the site, never for advertising.
For schools: we don’t collect student education records or any information that identifies a student. Accounts belong to teachers or other adults.
If you believe a child has sent us personal information, for example through the support chat, email support@kidsbrainbreaks.com and we’ll delete it.
7. How long we keep data
- Account and purchase records: for as long as your account exists, so your full pack stays unlocked. Purchase records may be kept longer where tax or accounting law requires it.
- Support conversations: until the matter is resolved and no longer needed, or until you ask us to delete them.
- Usage statistics: for up to 14 months in Google Analytics.
- Technical logs: a few days to a few weeks, depending on the provider.
- Browser storage: on your device until you clear it.
To delete your account, email support@kidsbrainbreaks.com from the address you signed up with. We’ll delete your account and personal data within 30 days, except records we must keep by law. Deleting your account removes access to the full pack.
8. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see the personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, receive a copy of it, or object to or restrict how we use it. We honour these requests wherever you are. Email support@kidsbrainbreaks.com, and we’ll reply within 30 days. We may need to confirm the request comes from the account holder.
If you’re in the EU or UK: we use your information to provide what you asked for (your account and purchase), to meet legal obligations (tax records), and for our legitimate interests (understanding how the site is used, keeping it secure). You can complain to your local data protection authority.
If you’re in California: we don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t share it for targeted advertising.
9. Security
The whole site uses HTTPS. Passwords are stored as one-way hashes. Our database only lets each account read its own purchase record, and only our own server code can write purchases. Payment card details are handled by Dodo Payments, never by us. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will tell you promptly if a breach affects it.
10. Where data is processed
Our database is hosted in the United States. Our providers may process data in other countries too; for example, Cloudflare serves pages from the location nearest to you. Where data leaves your country, our providers use legal safeguards such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll post the new version here and update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we’ll also put a notice on the site.
